Welcome

Sociedad Neoleonesa de Residentes y Especialistas en Medicina Familiar

The Residents and Specialists of the Family Medicine Society of Nuevo Leon (REFMSNLAC) send its warmest welcome to this site. We will try to be the vehicle and point of convergence of common interests of all the physicians who belong to the primary care discipline. This will be a virtual space that helps to enhance the presence of family physicians, not only in the academic setting but also in the community in general.

After thirty years of its recognition as a specialty Family Medicine has not yet being fairly valued in the professional community. In spite of the great potential that entails treating the family as an object of care and at the same time, being able to offer comprehensive and continuous care with an eminently preventive approach.

This web site, in English as well as Spanish, offers the option of being consulted either by English speaking laypersons or professional organizations and contains the foundations of the REFMSNLAC  - Incorporation Act, Statutes, Board of Directors and Committee Functions- in addition to the Members that constitute it. The opportunity is not failed to take advantage of to continue in the daily task of Continuous MedicalEducation through Links with the main Primary Care Journals and Medical Associations both English and Spanish; contest and rapid quiz sites on The Case of the Month and an Article of the Month selected from the best literature in any particular topic of the discipline. In addition it will be the forum to advertise local, national or international Academic Events, which have relevance for the participation and training of Family Physicians.

A fundamental part is the Community Service section wherein we will try to contribute to the maintenance of community health and to collaborate in the education of our population in areas of expertise for outstanding members of our family medicine society.

Finally, as family doctors we must be active participants in this vertiginous change of the present society that accounts for a great number of social and cultural determinants that unquestionably impinge on health. We have a great opportunity to demonstrate to society and other specialists how we are capable of working like doctors for the whole family. We can demonstrate our human sensitivity to the psycho-social determinants of the disease and resolve advantageously, the clinical problems that our patients suffer more frequently from this approach.
